The trades are talking a lot about the rise of over-the-top (OTT), buzzing about streaming video on demand (SVOD), and salivating over the measurement possibilities from connected TVs. For the most part, however, they don’t have much to say on the topic of linear TV—except to note the increasing signs of its slow, painful decline. But these headlines often don’t line up with reality. In fact, the total TV ad spend in the US is actually increasing, and eMarketer expects that to continue through at least 2021.
